TORAH

Bereshith (Genesis) - Pre-history Israel
Shemot (Exodus) - Israel's journey through the wilderness
Vayikra (Leviticus) - Focus is on drawing near to the Almighty
Bemidbar (Numbers) - Israel's journey through the wilderness
Devarim (Deuteronomy) - Israel's future

We are told in Exodus and in  the New Testament to be a holy nation. To be that is to follow the inscriptions given in the Book of Leviticus.
"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;" 1 Peter 2:9

Offerings and sacrifices to YHWH are key to drawing near.

This week focuses on the role of the kohen. Last week was the different types of sacrifices.

We are kohen. The word means to predict, share and prophesy the word of God just as we are to do.The pictograph form of the root word of kohanim is kahan.
  • Kaph - open palm - bend, open, allow, tame and to submit.
  • Hey - Man with arms raised - Revelation, inspiration.
  • Nun - Seed/sperm - Life, Messiah (final son).
Putting this all together, this is what the ancient Israelites would have understood the word kahan to mean: Submitting to the revelation that brings life (and speaks of the Messiah.) This is what it is to be a priest.

To be a kohen is not to hold office. To be a kohen is life - severance to guide others to experience and bask in YHWH's glory personally. Kohen makes sure that is YHWH is honoured alone.

According to Hosea 4 you cannot be a priest if you do not do or remember the Torah. The kohans (us) are to offer spiritual sacrifices. Our bodies are also temples for the Holy Spirit so that means we can be priests without being in an order. We are called, faithful and chosen to be a kohan.
"For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts." Malachi 2:7

Tzav is the root word for commandment, mitzvah. Means imputed righteousness that comes from submission to YHWH, it talks of submission that connections to revelation.

In the lives of all those who know us we cannot help but function as kohanim. People should look at our lives to be able to connect to see what it relay means to see a man submitted to YHWH. They should not be seeing us worshipping Him in our own ways.

When we give and exchange in the sacrifices we should all feel liberated, exhilarated and empowered.

The Book of Leviticus is all about the details of how we are meant to approach Him and commune with Him. It helps deepen our relationship with Him.

When you come near to God, you become totally aware of your sin.

If you stuff up, do not run away from Him, run to His throne of Grace.

Yeshua's utter devotion to the Father produced a life of complete holiness. In addition, it also produced something that we ought to value highly: a supreme confidence and assurance of the Father's will.

The burnt offering has four distinctive aspects to it:
  • It is a sweet savour to YHWH. It is not given because of sin, but because of devotion.
  • It is offered for acceptance in the stead of their offer. The animal represents the offerer.
  • A life is given.
  • It is completely consumed and burned up.
To be the bride, we must be willing to let every aspect in our life to be consumed by Him.

Real worship is offering parts of our day to devote ourselves to Him. Loyal devotion given to please Him in every labour of life is the most satisfying and acceptable response we can give Him. It is the best way to start your day by going on your knees saying, "LORD, i am yours. Let thy will be done."

The laying of the hands on the animal signifies the offer bringing himself near, making a gift of himself, devoting his entire life to YHWH. It indicates he holds nothing back.

The fire must be kept running and the kohen must prepare the altar for the nest worshipper.

As we examine what it takes to draw near to YHWH is not neat or tidy. Our lives are not neat or tidy too. Our lives must be exposed. To approach YHWH is to make a holy mess of His altar.

The olah represents the total surrender of ones self and was to simmer slowly on the fire, releasing a pleasant aroma into YHWH's creation that would linger.

YHWH told Moshe to charge Aharon and his sons, as kohanim that they must never let the fire (the holy spirit) go out, which calls the people to covenant an intimacy with YHWH. The continual fire is the present glory of YHWH. It was important that it would not cease because it was the original fire YHWH lit. Only this holy fire will be appropriate to burn the sacrifices necessary for the people to draw near to Him. Therefore quench not the spirit. Every day attend to the flame where we lay our sacrifices on. That flame was lit when we were saved by Messiah. remove yesterday's ashes - the nonsense and add fresh fuel, fan the coals and stoke the fire in your heart.

When we pray, we must give thanksgiving for what he has done because it will make our fire burn brighter.

Verse 18 in chapter 6 should say not become holy, but must be holy.

The brazen altar is just as holy as the holy of hollies.

The more affection we have for the stuff of this world the less we are capable of loving YHWH our God. We must go before Him with humility and thanksgiving regarding one's relationship with material things - is therefore one of the five basic spiritual needs for everyone who desires to worship YHWH.

Everything we have got is from YHWH.

The burnt offering represents the perfect fulfilment of the first great commandment and the grain offering corresponds to the second.

Salt was required in every sacrifice on the burned altar. The salt covenant is used in a wedding. Paints a picture of the bride and the bridegroom. Salt is understood to be the preservative, suggesting endure and strength of the relationship. By doing this, it tells us that the covenant made is inseparable. Cannot be undone.

What is your attitude towards your stuff? Do you acknowledge that you can use it as an opportunity to approach YHWH?

The guilt offering extinguishes all the guilt we may have for breaking His commandments. He is so merciful and full of grace. He knows how to deal with sin and the guilt itself and the shame and emotional scar tissue which He knew sin would wreak upon the human psyche. YHWH has no pleasure in our sufferings. He does not smite us with lightning when we screw up. No. YHWH draws the man's heart back to Him by His Spirit - His Ruach haKodesh that convicts the world of sin. And He waits until man responds and makes a guilt offering. Then He accepts Him back.

As the man lays hands on the ram, slits its head, sprinkles the blood on the altar and skins the carcass, he watches this process, he expresses the realisation that - "this should have been me! I sinned, and the poor ram has born my punishments."

Under the chuppah of smoke, the forgiveness is real, and tangible. And the guilt and the shame are gone.

There are actuality three types of peace offerings:
  • Thanksgiving- tend the fire of the Ruach with thanksgiving and truly know peace/shalom. After scarfing the animal, the parts that are left can be eaten. The offerer would declare a feast, inviting the priests and many other invited guests. This gives the one who brought the thanksgiving offering more opportunities to share his thankfulness. The meal its self becomes part of the process for everyone drawing near!
                     - Shows gratitude to the Almighty for one's well being.
                     - Shows abundance of joy in their lives.
                     - Deliverance from great danger.
                     - For YHWH's goodness.
  • Vow
  • Free will
This is the most interesting thing in this week's pasha. The Hebrew word for sacrifice (zevach) seems to only be identified with the peace offerings. All other sacrifices are called korban which are offerings. The only time this word is used is the sacrifice of the LORD'S Passover. There is a connection with the Peace offering and the Passover. Both must be eaten on the same day they are sacrificed. Both are eaten with bread, however Passover Lamb is only eaten with unleavened bread. The Passover sacrifice is the only sacrifice that is called "My sacrifice." The peace offering is shared with other as a sort of meal. Was Yeshua, as the peace offering (for YHWH's hurt for His sinful bride to come back) and the Passover Lamb asking His disciples to feast with Him? Indeed, He was just about to offer up Himself. He is the peace offering that was shared! This command in the Torah literally illustrates Jesus Christ! And individual had great violence done to Him that we might have peace with YHWH and with one another. The first words He said when He resurrected were: "Peace be unto you." Today we are the Tabernacle of YHWH. We must continue to offer the peace offering of thanksgiving, sharing the good news (perhaps in a meal) with others. The secret to having peace is to have thankful heart.
We have to have the peace offering meat left over before the 3rd day (which represents the 7000th year after Creation.) We have to partake in eating the meal (eat of my flesh) in the 2 days, after the 3rd it is too late and you cannot do it anymore. We have 2000 years to eat of His flesh, after the end of the last two God days it will be too late and the world will be consumed by fire as the meal that is not eaten must be burnt by fire on the 3rd day.

An edah is thus not just any congregation or gathering. An edah is a group of people convened together specifically for a purpose of bearing witness to a covenant event. This was what the two witness are. The act of witnessing from a Hebraic standpoint is less about speaking/testifying than it is about responding to a call, being present where one is summoned to be, and once there, carefully observing a ceremony/covenant event (or moedim.)

So the Two witnesses who i believe are the remnant believers, MUST keep YHWH's 7 Feast Days and the Sabbath.

Moses baptises Aaron and his sons because here this is here they officially become the priests.  Pictures Yeshua when He was washed with water by John the Baptist. Water purifies the soul and restores and replenishes life to the original God breathed spirit of a man.

We see Aaron and his sons begin dressed up in their best robes for severance. Refers to this seen in the story if the prodigal son.
"But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:" Luke 15:22
He was not righteous but the Father was righteous - and so the father dressed him to his own righteousness (Tzav means imputed righteousness.)

Aaron was anointed with oil by Moses. Please note it is nothing like we see in Catholic masses or Greek Orthodox masses where oil a little bit of oil is rubbed on the forehead. Not so. Aaron the high priest was absolutely soaked in oil, and the other priests where only sprinkled. Messiach means anointed with oil.

This statute (something commanded but not explained) Moses put the blood of the ram on the right ear, right thumb and right big toe because it paints and image of the Messiah who sits on the Right Hand of the Father. The ram that was sacrificed paints a picture of Yeshua. The ram Abraham sacrifice was stuck in thorns. This is prophetic of the Messiah who wears the crown of thorns. Romans do not just make crowns of thorns. The behind means later or ram let to come.
"And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son." Genesis 22:13

He was every one of the offerings. he is our High Priest, He is the King of Kings and there is none like Him.

PROPHETS AND NEW TESTAMENT

People that claim that they are holy are not holy one bit. They have forgotten His commandments and walk in the flesh and their own ways and traditions.

Tophet, will be called the valley of slaughter. refers to the sacrifices for their sins.

Those that reject YHWH and they wait until it is too late, they will be casts away like the residue ashes of the sacrifices that were commanded to be brought away.

We cannot rely on materialism, glory and riches. We must give to the poor as Yeshua said. Having all kinds of things over YHWH leads us into worry, fear, greed, envy and anger. We act as wild animals when people these days want to get the latest IPhone that comes out very mouth. Makes us hate those who have more a tyrannically stare down at those that have less. Materialism desecrates ones self esteem. They lose their prescriptive in life - they feel have are worthless and must indulge to feel short term happiness. They have a loss of time. They judge people unnecessarily. They are jealous of everyone in their life and are always negative. You need to buy what you need, not what you want! Happiness is NOT bought.

YHWH has a book of remembrance for us in Him which is like a photo album. We are His children. Those that thought about Him and spoke about Him. Those who really love Him. He is saying "look those are my kids there. They are talking about me now. They know my name."

Yeshua's healing in His wings is His tzittzit.

Just before Matthew starts, Malachi says "remember the law of Moses."

Malachi speaks of the End Times and those inn the End calling themselves Christians that forget how to love Him. They are robbing Him and the whole nations are guilty for judgement.

The fire that John the Baptist mentions refers to the sacrificing fire in Leviticus and how it purifies. We are baptised with fire so we must keep the fire going.

We are all one body that are partakers of the one bread from the peace offering and cedar meal that is Yeshua.

Supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving thanks to God is the sacrifices He needs.

When we die, apparently we go under the altar in Heaven.

Our prayers go into the golden censer that the priests in Heaven, the angels offer up to YHWH.

Verse 5 describes our prayers once they make it to the altar, act as a bomb and a weapon that comes back down to earth. These are all the prayers ever said in history will be thrown down in the end days.

An angel apparently as a job to preach the everlasting gospel to all the world. That doe not mean we do not have to do it!

When you add water to ashes, it becomes lye which is used for soap, used for cleansing. The ashes are taken to a clean place which is exactly what happened to Yeshua when He was crucified He was taken to the tomb.

Notes by Rob Skiba. See his blog: http://www.babylonrisingblog.com/RaptureRiddle2.html
By focusing only on the New Testament, we have lost so much in terms of our understanding of God, His Son and the ultimate plan for mankind. Realizing this, I can no longer consider myself to be a "New Testament, Bible Believing Christian" but rather a "FULL Testament, Bible Believing follower of Yeshua!"
By studying the Torah (as the First Century Believers did), we can learn a lot - including the meaning behind the oft quoted, "thief in the night" idiom. It comes from the Book of Leviticus:
The LORD said to Moses: “Give Aaron and his sons this command: ‘These are the regulations for the burnt offering: The burnt offering is to remain on the altar hearth throughout the night, till morning, and the fire must be kept burning on the altarThe priest shall then put on his linen clothes, with linen undergarments next to his body, and shall remove the ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar and place them beside the altar. Then he is to take off these clothes and put on others, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a place that is ceremonially clean. The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it.
The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.
- Leviticus 6:8-13 (NIV) [emphasis mine]
Notice the repeated statements that the fire must not go out! This was a command of God. So, the priests had to take it very serious! A tradition was therefore developed involving the priest of the night watch and the High Priest. Early in the morning, before dawn, the High Priest would return to the Temple to prepare everything for the daily sacrifices. He did so in a stealthy manner in order to "check on" the night priest to ensure he had done his job right.
Consider what this on-line source has to say about this issue:
The high priest would begin to walk around the temple looking for the priest.  If the priest was found to be asleep, the high priest would go over to the altar and gather some of the orange hot coals from the altar in a fire pan and bring them over to the sleeping priest and gently place them under the sleeping priests’ garments.
FYI, these weren’t fire retardant garments the priests wore either.  It is said that the priestly garments after being soiled were actually taken off and tore into strips and were used as wicks in the menorah in the temple.  So they lit up pretty easily. So the garments of the sleeping priest would soon be ignited in flames and the only thing that the slothful priest could do is shed all the garments and go home burnt, wounded, shamed, and naked.  This was an important lesson to the priest.
[emphasis mine]
In the above passage of Leviticus, we learn that they are to put on linen (highly flammable) clothes, with linen garments that clung close to his body. This was serious business! And this is what Yeshua means to emphasize in the time of Great Tribulation when He said,
"Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame."
- Revelation 16:15 (KJV)
From reading the Torah, we can get a much greater understanding of lots of things concerning the Messiah, including some of the idioms used in reference to the Last Days, like coming "as a thief in the night." The obvious implication is that we are to be awake, sober and alert so that when our High Priest, King and Bridegroom returns, we are ready for Him - which brings us back to the Parable of the Ten Virgins.
