These are my first ever Torah Portion notes from 2018 and 2019, drawn from these sources. Every Saturday starting from Friday sunset, God's people get together and read portions from the Torah to learn and look deeper into His word, starting after the 8 days Feast of tabernacles until.Tabernacles the next year:

TORAH
This Torah Portion will be very important for next year and after that in 2020 and 2021 because those are the 6th and 7th years according to my calculations. If you read on you will find out why. Increase is not ours, it is His.
The commandments given in this portion pertain to the land.
You can sow for six years, but on the seventh year is for the land to regenerate. It is also a sabbath year. Judah or the Jews, when into captivity for 70 years because they did not keep this command. You grew not just to sell, but for everyone to eat.
This what to NOT do on a Sabbath, for these are ways to break it:
- Declaring your independence from YHWH. Not wanting to do it His way.
- Announcing self sufficiency.
- Not submitting to His will.
- Calling your will YHWH's will.
You do not sow in the spring. You sowed in autumn and harvested in the spring. The grain harvest is planted in autumn, the barley is harvest in the spring at Passover and the wheat is harvested at Pentecost (in the summer).
If you are sowing in the fall of year six, so that there is a harvest in year seven. The English translations are very bad at what they are interpreting at the beginning of chapter 25. Instead of untrimmed vines, the Hebrew says you are going to get a triple increase and you are to pull aside and put the products into storage. What it is saying is you are not allowed to pull from the grapes or the grain that is in storage, until what you are harvesting in the sabbatical year has been eliminated.
This is YHWH's well-fair system. When you own a field, you own the field and its harvest. If there is left overs you sell it as profit. On the sabbatical year, you are not allowed to harvest for your sake. You sowed it but you do not own it. No one owns their land on the 7th year. Even the poor, like Ruth that gleamed from the edges of a field which is allowed do even do that for the 6 years. It is not until the 7th, everyone has the right and access to the food from the richest people in town. That rich man must humble himself so the poor and their neighbours can take for their family and take what they need. The poor got to eat like a king. The common concept of the first shall be last.
Once all the wheat and grain is gone, then the original owner can go into his storehouse and have the extra grain for his own family.
Verse 8 about the counting of the sabbaths is connected to the counting of the Omer to Pentecost. On the 7th sabbaths (7 weeks) after Unleavened Bread (the 49th Omer) would be the Feast of Pentecost (the wheat harvest). Verse 8 is inexorably connected to Pentecost which means 50 in Greek.
Think about the extreme act of faith it would take to not plant for two years.
You sound the trumpet or the shofar during the Feast of Trumpets in Tishri 1 and 10 which is the Day of Atonement. Prophetically, the resurrection happens at the sound of the trumpet and Yeshua's second coming. The 10 days of wrath is Yeshua's campaign to conquer the Antichrist and judgement and reckoning comes on Atonement.
When you counted 7 sabbath years, the next year is a 50 year jubilee. On this year, the word saying "proclaim liberty" to the land is the same as finishing the race as Paul mentions in his letters. It is the freedom from the bondage of sin.
"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain." 1 Corinthians 9:24It is in this year you return the property you have borrowed to the original owner.
Just like the word Jesus, jubilee also did not exits in the original language. J was not invented yet. The word is yobel which means ram's horn or a shofar. The Hebrew pictograph suggest that there is a connection with your works to the house of teaching (Torah). This is what happens in the fulfilment of the yobel when we are set free from sin. The blowing of the horn is a yobel. The release of the frequency of liberty and victory. This is why the dead in Christ rise at the trumpet because they are set free. So could it be that Yeshua has to come on a jubilee year? So staring by counting 50 years from Creation (4000 BC) to now, we might get a close estimation on the season, because we are the children of light and we do not remain in darkness that Yeshua should come as a thief. From may calculations, Yeshua would be coming back in 2050 on Yom Teruah (the 121st Jubilee.) When this happens, the tribal owner get their land back, (the promise land). This is way the 144000 are grouped up into 1200 groups. The inheritance originally was given to the 12 tribes.
A timeline that counts the 50 yobel. |
"and I will keep your Torah always, forever and ever. I will go wherever I like, for I have sought your precepts." Pslam 119:44-45
"But if a person looks closely into the perfect Torah, which gives freedom, and continues, becoming not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work it requires, then he will be blessed in what he does." James 1:25
Everything in Israel went by the jubilee year working on 7s and 50s. When you purchased a farm you did not purchase the land. You cannot purchase land because it is YHWH's land. You are purchasing the rights of the produce of the land. You are purchasing the opportunity to produce from His land. In the 50th year, the rights to the land go back to the original owner.
"And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day." Deuteronomy 8:17-18
No matter what financial state you are in for the 49 years, it is all leveled out on the 50th year. This system will completely eradicate the poor money possession that the few control most of the world's wealth and most people have much less. You what to make a country great again, you MUST make your constitution YHWH's Torah.
When there is an intention to be in covenant with Him, He will give us His grace.
Bitachon (Hebrew for faith in a covenant relationship) is like trust but involves much more. It involves accepting that YHWH the Creator is actively involved in every aspect of our lives on earth, and is constantly working all situations and circumstances in our lives toward that which is for our good. When we realise this, life suddenly becomes much easier. Bitachon is the main factor in success in maintaining a Torah observant lifestyle.
"Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." Luke 22:42
While a person learns and strives to know the commandments, the judgements and the statues of the Torah, and how to apply them in a practical way to his or her life, her or she should seek to develop bitachon. They go hand in hand. Like Grace and Obedience.
Bitachon tempers the drive toward independent initiative with the recognition that it is YHWH, who is the source of our power to achieve all things.
A person with bitachon therefore engages in the normal activities of life, not in order to survive and empress and do well, but in order that he or she can offer YHWH a vessel to use in this world.
YHWH is not just telling us to return back to liberty, He wants us to live in a proactive way that scripts to His Torah. They give great benefit. It brings about you He is back into the world.
YHWH made sure in the yobel year that the inheritance that He gave of those that stood in Caanan for the very first time, stayed in their tribes. He is the lender we are the borrowers. These are laws of business practices built into the Torah. You are not allowed to take advantage of your neighbour.
The 7th year and the 50th year are all about the freedom of the slaves and debt. We produce not just for stratifying ourselves, because we do not own ourselves, so we can take care of Israel and so all the people can benefit through our gifts. If Israel sh'mared to His word and did what He says, on year 6, YHWH will give them 300% more increase. More than what you need. Everyone around the community will be blessed and their will be less problems with homelessness.
The yobel is an appointed time for you to return to walk in the ancient paths that lead to freedom. Emphasis on personal debt forgiveness and personal servant release can cause one to miss the primary point of the yobel which is to return to one's heritage and to one's family. The yobel is the time to return to YHWH's plan for your life and the abandoning of your own.
If we change ourselves to be more like Him, everything around us will change as a result.
If we do not keep His instructions there is no promise of security.
YHWH teaches His people:
- Mathematical laws
- Moral laws
- Business
Regarding the conclusion of 120 Jubilees, landing in the 2030-2033 time-frame. I believe that Rob Skiba's theory has some substance regarding the years of the Tribulation:
Everything that we do that produces, not just fiances, anything that you are gifted in doing. For me, i would say producing stories and work for school or love and mercy for others. YHWH owns these gifts and He so graciously gave them to us.
Yobel is defined perfectly when Yehsua dies on the cross. The graves opened at His death and the captives were free.
With regard to rural properties and unwalled villages the seller's right of redemption endures until the next yobel. Even with regard to houses within walled cities however the right of redemption endures for a minimum of a year. For Levites, the right of redemption as to urban properties endures longer.
What makes a house in a walled city different? There is more value in walled pieces of land and it would be unfair if the same right of redemption was used for both rural and urban houses.
It works in complete opposite for the Levites. They cannot even sell their land.
A hired-man is daily hired. A resident alien is hired by the year.

Verse 44 in Leviticus 25 says you can get slaves from pagan nations. Now this does sound like what happens in the 1800s. Was the American (or modern) slavery justified by Leviticus 25? No! In order to understand this, when it says to buy them as a possession is not in anyway shape or form implying cruelty. When that translation takes place, the word translated as slave as being under the pressures of someone of something unwilling. The Hebrew ebed is nothing like how we think as modern slavery. Bring an ebed was not due to person being taken against his will, but because poor people either sold themselves or their children. Being an ebed was often designed to pay a debt to a debtor, and once the debt was paid, the person was free. They sold themselves into servitude. Many people at those times became ebed because their situation was better in someone's service than not. The option to be an ebed was designed so that the poor could seek protection. To be free meant you had no guarantees that you would have enough food to eat or even a descent house to shelter your family. There was no state to provide these things, forcing other people in the community to pay taxes. YHWH did not want to infringe upon the liberty of some to provide for others.
Are we the ebed to Christ? Biblical slavery looked nothing like the slavery most of us are familiar with - especially when you consider what the Torah says concerning kidnapping (which was how most slaves were acquired around the world by the nations):
Torah forbids slave trades. This is the exact opposite of critics would say that the Bible supports slavery. They twists Leviticus 25:44 to say the Bible supports injustice. |

“Kidnappers must be put to death, whether they are caught in possession of their victims or have already sold them as slaves. Exodus 21:16
Levi 25:44 does not say to kidnap, the Bible never contradicts itself. It says to purchase so you can help and support the poor slave to be part of your family to give them a purpose and an inheritance. It is in no way implying to treat humans as animals. That is what happens when you twists the Scriptures. So, if anyone acquired a slave through kidnapping, they would have been put to death according to the Torah. No American slavery was not justified by Torah! The plantation owners did not believe the Torah was even for them anyway!
If an Israelite has become so poor and someone from a pagan nation comes and dwells in the land and he becomes rich and prosperous and the Israelite sells himself to that rich pagan, the redemption right still applies.

PROPHETS AND NEW TESTAMENT
The land of Israel was not Israel's; they were mere stewards of it. And, since it was not theirs, they could not sell it." The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Luke 4:18-19
This year is the yobel or jubilee year Yeshua is talking about which is all about the mission of the Gospel - freeing the captive and healing the sick. This is from Isaiah 61 the Yom Kippur reading. On the future Yom Kippur, when He judges the nations, He will fulfil the second half of verse 19
Yeshua broke the laws of man because they were unnecessary and legalistic. All He did was stop half way in the Half Torah Portion and closed the scroll. Big deal! The Jews said it is legal to stop reading Scripture half way, which is not what God says. The Torah Portions are a good tradition set in place by the prophet Esdra.
Shalom
